Before going any further, I want to acknowledge our predecessors, namely Tomas Bata, Karel Velan and Lubomir Novotny. They deserve thanks for their support, leadership and dedication to fulfill the Chamber’s purpose in the times of dynamic changes in the Czech Republic of the late 1990’s. However, since the establishment of numerous government agencies promoting trade and investment in the Czech Republic, and the placement of their offices here in Canada, the landscape has changed significantly leaving the Chamber to look for its new place and purpose.
I’d like to say we found it, but I can’t. It’s more appropriate to say we found the willingness and courage to look for it. Speaking on behalf of the members of the Board of Directors, we are certain of nothing except of our own effort to make things work. We’ve set a new direction for the Chamber and only time will tell if we were successful. Actually, you will tell us through your participation and involvement. I encourage you to come to our events, ask us questions and share your ideas.
I also encourage you to make this an opportunity of your own. Because opportunities don’t come excellent by themselves; it’s what we make of them. The Chamber has the potential to become what you want it to be. Do you see a role for the Chamber in growing your business? Do you see a role for yourself in fulfilling the Chamber’s purpose? Do tell us about it. Our primary objective is to make the Chamber an organization that truly serves its members.
